The parents just don't want a little kid going out into the jungle by herself, but yeah they could be nicer about it :p

That's understandable! But he could offer to take her with him on hunts, or at least tell her he'll teach her when she's bigger, if the problem was just her going off alone.

Yeah, sadly their patriarchal culture is too ingrained in them because they've never known anything else.
